Whether its gathering ideas for your new outdoor patio, stocking up on gardening supplies, or searching for a perfect gift for the avid gardener in your life- this event will have something for everyone! The event runs from 10:00am – 6:00pm on Saturday and 10:00am- 5:00pm on Sunday.
EVENT EXPANSION As the Town of Leesburg celebrates the 20th year of the Flower and Garden Festival, several additions are being made to make this year the biggest and best yet. One major addition to the Festival is the expansion of the footprint as one block of South Wirt Street will be added to the event layout. With more than 20 new vendors, plus street food and great children’s entertainment, this block is primed to be a festival favorite.
In addition to the festival expansion, a Demonstration Stage will be added this year to feature ‘how-to’ presentations on a myriad of topics. Every 30 minutes a different topic will be featured including rain barrel making, composting, and Monarch Butterfly way stations, just to name a few. This new stage will be featured on the Town Green and will be a great opportunity for all gardeners, novice to green thumbs, to learn a new tip or technique.
For a taste of Loudoun County’s garden bounty, be sure to visit the newly added Wine Garden located behind Town Hall, accessible off Wirt Street. This new tasting area will feature some of Loudoun County’s best wineries and breweries. Take home a commemorative glass and bottle of your favorite vino to enjoy after the festival concludes.
ENTERTAINMENT A variety of food, music, children’s entertainment and crafts will also be on hand for this two-day event. Hourly entertainment on the Children’s Stage will keep youngsters enthralled while moving and grooving to the sounds of Uncle Pete’s “Up with Kids,” as well as other interactive, live entertainment. The fun doesn’t stop there as crafts, face painting, and other activities will also be on the scene. The children’s area’s new location on Wirt Street will be one of the most popular spots within the festival
Enjoy the sounds of local and regional bands on our Main Stage, located at the Loudoun County Courthouse. From relaxing reggae tunes to the classic rock favorites, the Main Stage is the perfect place to take in the awesome atmosphere of this Festival of flowers and fun! Artist featured at 2010 festival include local favorite Gary Smallwood and country sensation Jay Henley the Stone Broke Band.
The Flower and Garden Festival is Leesburg’s unofficial start to the spring season, so be sure to join your friends and neighbors for the ‘Leesburg Today’s’ Best of Loudoun “Best Community Event” for several years running - it’s an annual event and a perennial experience!
