Please remember: The drop-off centers are for recycling ONLY! Please do not leave bulky items or household trash at these locations!!
The Town of Leesburg maintains two recycling drop-off centers for residents and businesses who do not have access to curbside recycling collection. The centers are located at:
- Food Lion Parking Lot - South King Street Location at Davis Avenue
- Wal-Mart Parking Lot - intersection of Edwards Ferry Road and the Leesburg Bypass
***Note - there are signs regarding acceptable materials posted at both sites - however, the containers themselves may NOT have the same information. CSI transfers containers to various locations so the containers at our sites may change from week to week.***
Please be assured that regardless of the labeling on the actual container, both drop-off centers accept the following materials co-mingled:
|
Acceptable Materials
|
| Office/copy paper, newspaper, glossy newspaper ads, etc. |
| Junk Mail (including window envelopes), magazines, catalogs and phonebooks |
| Plastics #1-7 (regardless of shape/size of container - this includes some "Styrofoam" pieces - they MUST be labeled with a recycling triangle and a number 1-7 to be acceptable!) |
| Glass bottles and jars (lids and labels are acceptable) |
| Cardboard and paperboard (cereal boxes, pizza boxes, etc. - remove wax liners -must be broken down to fit in cardboard containers) |
| Tin and aluminum cans (crush to conserve space - labels OK) |
***There are some older containers which indicate that newspaper must be separated from plastics, glass, etc. Please note that at the Leesburg locations only, those materials can be co-mingled. The only item that must be separated is cardboard - there are 3 individual cardboard containers at each drop-off center. The larger single container is all co-mingled material.***
The drop-off centers cannot accept the following:
|
Prohibited Materials
|
| Household or business trash |
| Hazardous Household Waste - visit Loudoun County for disposal information |
| Yard waste and brush |
| Bulky items and construction debris |
DO NOT LEAVE HOUSEHOLD FURNITURE, TIRES, CHEMICAL AND OTHER ITEMS OUTSIDE THE RECYCLING CONTAINERS - THESE ARE NOT TRASH DUMPSTERS!!!
Leaving prohibited items outside of the recycling containers is considered illegal dumping and may incur a fine or penalty.
